Late Diagnosis is a collage piece made using comics I made as part of therapy. I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at age 16, which is much later than most kids are diagnosed. I spent most of my formative years with out the words to describe how I was different, and despite their suspicions, my parents never wanted to get me diagnosed, fearing the stigma would hold me back. The comics used in this piece are about the turmoil I experienced trying to reconcile the relief that I was finally diagnosed with the fact that I wouldn't have been in therapy at 16 to be diagnosed if only I knew younger and was given the opportunity to learn to cope.
